Covid-19 Related Precautions @ Our Farm
Just an update message to let you know our response in caring for our guests during these times of the Covid 19 virus.
As you may know Thailand was one of the world leaders in successfully controlling and limiting the spread of this virus even though being in quite close proximity to China. Northern Thailand has had a more impressive success than the national average. Currently folks who have contracted Covid 19 are being asked to return to their home provinces in order to ease any burden on hospitals in major populated areas such as Bangkok and surrounds. So over the past few months these figures have been included in provincial totals and subsequently the number of cases have risen in the north but only fractionally. Much has been speculated that as so many residents in the north of Thailand always wear face masks as a matter of habit this has greatly influenced the very limited spread.
Due to the very early restrictions imposed by a very, very cautious Thai Government such as curtailing international flight arrivals, curbing domestic flights as well and even inter-province travel including bus and train, infection rates have been limited especially compared to other regions of the world. There is still an extensive public awareness campaign which include temperature checks and compulsory hand sanitization whenever entering a town or city, (and even some ATM machines come with hand sanitizer!) and so the spread of the virus has been curtailed to a greater extent. Further precautions taken very early such as the closing of hospitality venues had also helped enormously.
To comply with government regulations and to contribute to the national endevour we closed Thung Dong Farm to guests and any visitors during the month of April and we greatly appreciate the kindness and understanding of our guests who we asked to postpone their stay with us. During this time we undertook a complete, thorough and systematic cleansing and sanitization protocol of all guest rooms and common areas which even extended to our animal housing!
Whilst we always clean and sanitize guest accommodation between visits we currently now do our very best to allow two clear days between guests leaving us and new guests arriving in any particular room in order to undertake this procedure and ensure guest rooms are made sterile. We are also doing our very best to limit the number of guests to just one family, or party of guests who are known to each other, at any one time. We should like to prolong this policy for as long as possible which is also dependent, of course, on the kindness of our guests and their flexibility on any possible conflicting dates. Because of the location of our guest accommodation, guests / families will never have to come into close contact with one another and for the foreseeable future, even when there maybe two parties of guests staying with us at the same time, guests will be able to enjoy their meals in different areas and so respecting social distancing recommendations.
Because the farm is quite isolated and we enjoy the fresh air of the countryside and besides the guests who are staying with us we receive very few outside visitors and therefore there is no requirement to wear face masks on the farm and we do provide hand sanitizer anyway for guests to use if they have been petting or playing with the animals! Guests may wish to wear a face mask (which we can provide for you) if they visit our village but we would strongly suggest wearing face masks if visiting Chiang Mai town only for the fact that most retail outlets require this precaution before entering!
So please rest assured that a visit to the north of Thailand and to Thung Dong Farm is particularly safe and secure for you and your families and we look forward very much to the opportunity of welcoming you to our little haven soon!
Blessings always,
from Ae.
