It must be that time of the year!
Nam (water) was born 2 days ago beside the river; her mother is a pink Buffalo, Nohn, but her father is grey, Nam seems to be very white!...but she will turn a light shade of pink as she gets older. These snaps were taken very soon after she was born and she was still finding her feet! She’s going to be a very spoilt buffalo on Thung Dong and we’ll keep you posted on her progress! Just right for a cuddle!

Not our New Year Festival but this little fellow who appeared last night just in time for the holiday! – the Thai New Year! He was born about 2 weeks early and is so tiny that he is half the size of the dogs! In fact you can carry him around in your arms! We thought that we would call him Songkran!
...a very special time of the year and a very special little calf!

The dry season is now upon us!...and we have set-about clearing a long stretch of farm land at the foot of the hills. It’s an area that is seldom trodden and the farm can be seen in a different perspective. The Farm House is hidden amongst the trees to the centre right and the other buildings blend into the country-side just the way we planned so we don’t disrupt the natural beauty of the Thung Dong Valley and surrounding jungle and hills. A perfect perspective if you ask us!

Nack sets-off with guests on a trek but he didn’t really expect the extra payload! But typically with Nack it’s all good fun and with his usual infectious smile and good humour! Having three kids of his own he is very used to a piggy-back passenger but usually around the shopping mall!!

We found these very fluffy little fellows in the animal market in Chiang Mai and it was just too tempting not to scurry them off to the farm! We are told that they are chickens but have no idea what breed! They are very tame and happily perch on your finger or hand. So we are going to take very good care of them and watch them grow into who knows what! If you know what they are please tell us! I’ll keep you posted as they get olderand maybe we'll get a big surprise!

Not one of Santa’s stray Reindeer but a visitor from the mountains!
A deer seems to have made a bond with our buffaloes! She stayed behind whilst the rest of the herd headed back to the hills and hopefully has made the farm her home.
She sleeps with the buffaloes at night and grazes with then during the day and is slowly getting more tame. It would be wonderful if she stayed but she might just get a little homesick for her kin and rejoin them if she hears them call….so we are enjoying her company so much while we can!
