All of our honey is 100% Pure collected from wild bee colonies and the taste of which varies with the seasons depending which flowers are in bloom. ........and just two days after Maggie gave birth our Ethel followed suit with 8 baby piglets of her own! So that makes 19 new 'Babes' around the farm, so cute, full of mischief and little miracles of nature!

4.00 am, 29th September. A quick snap from my mobile just 10 minutes after the last of 11 piglets were born to our Maggie! All very healthy and a very proud mother...again! Congratulations Mags!

Now that the rains are subsiding giving way to the cool season the villagers came up to the farm to help us build a new foot / motorcycle bridge to replace the one that was swept away by the river torrent a few weeks back. So many thanks to all for a good days work and hoping that this bridge will last....at least until next year!

It's that time of the year, during the rainy season, that Khun Liam undertakes the harrowing task of trimming the horse’s manes which get tangled in the wet weather! Meika especially hates having a haircut but K. Liam keeps a cool hand on the scissors and usually walks away unscathed! The bravest man on the farm I think!

…....it pours down for 24 hours and our small river, The Mai Lai Noi, turns into white-water!...huge fallen trees from the jungle get swept down in the torrent, our footbridge is mangled like match-wood and our electricity poles crumple under the surge!...and that’s putting it mildly!
No real damage and no real harm done; just a little inconvenience; that’s life in the mountains for you!
The rainy season is here!
(A few snaps after the storm had passed but left enough sand and mud to prevent even our 4 x4 getting through to the farm!)

We have two trucks on the farm. Myrtle, a 4 x 4 Tiger, so reliable and so solid in which we transport our valued guests….and then we have The Farm Truck, just a truck with no name! We heightened the suspension and put on bigger tyres so it can ford the river to reach the farm in the rainy season and it has seen excellent service over the past four years…and still looks like new!
Recently some folks from the village, who are very pleased that Thung Dong is located nearby, suggested that we at least advertise the farm web-site on the truck…it’s a good idea and we wonder why we didn’t think of it before! So we made an image on the computer of type-styles, colour (deep green or TDF orange) and settings and after consultations with our village friends to choose we have put the stickers on the truck. We think it looks great….and our friends from the village are so proud of their imaginative suggestion!

This post is for someone special who has always had a soft spot for Geckos!!
About three weeks ago Joy was sweeping The Farm House and just as she was about to empty the pan into the bin she saw a tiny Gecko’s egg. Not that this is at all uncommon and we just leave them to hatch in their own time…but this little egg looked so vunerable that I put it into a small plastic container with a piece of foam for it to rest upon.
It has sat on my desk for the best part of two weeks and I was about to discard it when yesterday out the corner of my eye I saw the egg roll across the container, a minute later it did it again…within a few seconds this tiny head with very big eyes appeared, had a quick look around and then darted-off to behind the Buddha image on the wall!
Later, leaving some crumbs nearby, this little miracle of nature sneaked out from behind the Buddha for his first meal!
We call this little fellow Greg!....but as all the Gecko’s look identical they will all be called Greg in the future!

WARF–The Wild Animal Rescue Foundation of Thailand - have recently based their local headquarters in our village of Ban Champi. They have established their offices in our friends house just before the turn-off onto the track that leads to Thung Dong. What a fantastic privilege to be the centre of this amazing project! Let’s all wish WARF much success in their endeavours which will hopefully lead to the call of the Gibbon being heard amongst all the other sounds of the jungle that we currently enjoy!
Part of any excess income that we receive from our valued Farm Stay Guests will be contributed towards this truly amazing project!
Please check their web site for a more detailed description of their commendable work : www.warthai.org

Work continues, albeit at a Thai pace, on the new Sunset Room, Kitchen, Bathroom, Sala and Garden.
It has taken so much longer than anticipated mainly due to the fact that we 'down-tools' whenever we have Farm Stay Guests so that we do not disturb our visitors in any way.
The next post on this project will be when it is complete but no promises when that might be....but hopefully in a few months time!
