We, a Dutch family of 4 (2 kids age 8 and 9), spent two nights at Ae's farm near Chiang Mai. We had an unforgettable experience! Having lived in Thailand for a while, we wanted to spend some time outside of the typical tourist areas. Spending 3 days on the farm was fantastic. The farm and surroundings are beautiful, the accommodation and food are super and the kids loved all the animals.
A monk just recently moved in to the small ancient temple close to the farm and we got to meditate with him for a while. An absolutely unique experience... More than anything though, we loved the hospitality of Ae. He takes such good care of his guests, his animal and his farm and it was just a privilege spending some time with him in this small paradise. Of our 2 weeks Thailand trip, this was definitely the highlight! We would absolutely recommend staying for a few days with Ae and hope to be back in the future!

Dear Ae, you and your farm made an unforgettable impression on us. You’re such an animal lover and kind man. We felt very welcome and you Ae, with help from Whi, spoiled us with extensive Thai meals and even pizza for Koen, because he loves that so much. Being May it was too hot for many activities but we had a great time on the farm and with the animals. The dog Mika came along on our (short) jungle walks. The beautiful Farm House had many seats to chill on. We swam in the hotspring and met local people to drink a beer with. A neighbour brought us to the Elephant poopoo paper factory and a kartcourse. We had so much fun! We wanted to do so much more but had to little time and it was very hot. So, we have to come back to spend more time! The day we left our daughter cried for 10 mins because she was so sad that we were leaving. She said she wants to stay on the farm forever! I think it is because of all the memories you made for her and her brother... Fishing, releasing the lantern, feeding the animals, playing with the dogs and Oscar, riding the motorcycle to buy bananas and fish food and ice cream... Hello Ae! We had a great and comfortable stay at your farm and would certainly recommend it to anyone who may have a keen interest to experience staying in rural Thailand. The rooms and bed we had were comfortable and clean. The sunset veranda was a very comfortable place to sit and relax. The kitchenette was well stocked for the duration of our stay.
On top of all that, the food served was excellent and well cooked thanks to Poi. Please tell her she cooks very well!
Thank you also for the personal attention and precious time you spent with us during our stay. It certainly added to our overall experience there. The stories you told us about your life experience was an eye opener and very interesting. Also hope your new dog, Meika, gives you some lucky numbers to help grow the farm!!

Hi Ae,
We had a good flight and we are now enjoying some time in Khao Sok National Park.

We stumbled on Thung Dong Farmstay via a blog stating it would be a lovely place to visit especially when you are travelling with kids (we were travelling with kids age 4 and 1.5). The stay really exceeded expectations! Why? Because Ae really makes you feel welcome and thinks of ways the kids can play and help around at the farm; like feeding the animals, creating a lantern or even taking our oldest son for small bike rides. The scene is beautiful, beds are comfortable and the food is delicious! On top of that the bonfires in the evening also make it a very romantic place to stay! I would recommend visiting the farm for at least 2/3 nights🙂

Where can I start ?... We live in Bangkok and have a very busy life. We work a lot, and forget to take vacations. But this time we decided to really take some real time off with our 5 years old daughter, Sasha, and enjoy some well-earned rest. I don't even remember how I found Thung Dong Farm, but when I saw it I knew it was the perfect place for us.
And it did not disappoint! K. Ae is the best host ever!... he is kind, very communicative, helps you organize the trip and recommends the best routes and places. We felt that we were in good hands from the moment we emailed him and the communication was great.
When we arrived, we were in awe with the beautiful surroundings and the calm. Sasha had a blast walking around/playing with the dogs, the cat, the buffaloes and the deer, feeding the ducks and geese, picking up eggs, washing the dogs in the river. K. Ae was adorable and so patient with her, bringing her on what she calls "adventures" : bringing the buffaloes back at night, finding gibbons, picking up wood for the fire, decorating lanterns ...
The food was simple and delicious, everyone was so nice and helpful.
These vacations were a true blessing for us. The only downside is that we had to leave! Sasha misses K. Ae, her adventures and all the animals. My husband and I could truly relax and enjoy the beauty of the area and enjoy in that everything was taken care of.
I recommend the farm to everyone who needs to disconnect from the crazy life (although the Internet and wifi are very good for some occasional work emails). We will definitely come back.

We stayed at Ae's place for 3 nights with our family of 4 adults and 3 kids. We had the entire farmstay to ourselves and had fun just relaxing and enjoying the peace of the scenic place.
My kids looked forward to playing with the dogs daily ( since they do not have dogs back in Singapore), they also enjoyed helping to feed the ducks and the geese. Simple pleasures like roaming around the farmland and watching the 3 pink buffaloes moving around, waking up to a pink buffalo right outside our balcony area are things that we appreciate now that we are back home.
Ae also planned many activities for us like making sky lanterns, fishing, bonfire with marshmallows - next time we will bring extras!... and a short trek to see some coffee plantations . My kids also made new friends with 2 of the Thai kids over there and we hope to go back and meet up with them again.
Overall, it was a relaxing stay and we would all love to go back and visit the farm and animals again.

We left Thung Dong Farm Stay yesterday but Thung Dong has not left our hearts!
Our friends chanced upon Thung Dong Farm Stay while making plans for our Chiang Mai trip itinerary and both our families (4 adults 3 kids) had an absolutely wonderful time fishing, boating, having our meals with a scenic view of the farmland, watching the buffalos and cow graze, seeing Natalie the deer blend with the buffalos, having the dogs (Sam, Izzie, Lucy, Louise, Molly) and cat (Oscar) around and then there's Dang's Mother the cow (she's nearly 23 years old!) and Charlie the elusive monitor lizard and the geese and ducks gang.
The lantern lighting was a nice nostalgic touch to end our last night at the farm.
Thank you Ae. For all the heart you have put into this farm. For our memorable stay. Thank you for the charming and warm hospitality (from both you and your team) and the delicious local cuisine. We stayed at Thung Dong Farm for 4 nights (we would’ve stayed longer if possible) a little pearl north-east of Chiang Mai. Where passion for and love for animals, hospitality and farm life come together. Created and hosted by Ae, the most attentive host we’ve had during our yearlong travel in Asia. My wife celebrated her birthday and the details and attention to make this day special really warmed out hearts. Cake, lights, surprises and a beautiful present. With our kids (age 2 and 5) we decorated laterns and Kathrongs, they helped feed the animals and got the time of their life joining Ae on his tricycle on the farm. Loads of stuff to do in the area, but you can stay days on the farm without getting bored! We were staying in the big Farm House and it tells the story of the locations history, and is absolutely beautifully decorated. Transformed from an old chilly pickers house to a top farm stay!!! For sure we want to come back and would recommended to everyone!

Thung Dong Farm is an amazing place ! First of all Ae is a wonderful person that take care of you as a member of his own family 🙏. He will send transport to pick you up at the airport. Then you will be welcomed with a traditional Thaï lantern. All the meal (breakfast, lunch and diner) are just wonderful! So generous cook! (Pad Thaï, Kao Soi, BBQ...). At the farm, you could fish (and of course release the fish after), feed the animals, walking around the farm thanks to all trails (I recommend you to go to the temple just 500 meters walk). Ae also organizes some excursions (waterfall, visit of bamboo rice factory). You can go to Thung Dong Farm Stay without any doubt! I visited with my parents, wife and children (18 months and 3 years old). We stayed for 5 days and had an amazing time. We would happily visit again. The scenery is truly amazing and our children had lots of fun interacting with the animals.
Most importantly, Ae and his team were wonderful hosts. Ae and Nack were there whenever we needed any kind of assistance and put on lots of fun activities for the kids (making lanterns, feeding birds, washing dogs etc.). Mae's cooking is really wonderful and we were happy to eat at the farm every day. Their Thai country food is both healthy and delicious.
Altogether a brilliant trip with lots of wonderful memories and I'm sure we'll visit again. Thanks!

It was a fantastic experience! We stayed 3 nights and the difficult part was to pick the house to stay in, they all looked amazing!
The response from my mail to Khun Ae was fast and informative. Food, staff, animals the house was perfect. The kids spent time with the animals and staff for most of the day helping with everything. The farm is quiet from city noise. Wonderful dogs, ducks and more. We swam in the river and waterfalls.
The girls (age 9) cried when we left! I highly recommend Thung Dong Farm for a pleasant stay in a fantastic environment.

I am a retired expat living in Chiang Mai who was looking for a place to relax in the country. I just spent 4 wonderful days at Thung Dong Farm Stay with Farmer Ae and Chef Win. The farm was beautiful with lush green trees, several ponds, walking paths and numerous seating areas.
The ranch house that I stayed in was lovely with a seating area, small kitchen, comfortable bed and huge outdoor lounge.
I had so much fun meeting the animals, walking through the jungle, sitting by the lovely pond, exploring local towns, and photographing the beautiful creatures that live in this oasis. It is clear how much they care for their animals at the farm. I watched Ae give Brian the Pink water buffalo a bath speaking to him like a child as he turned the muddy brownish buffalo into a beautiful pink color. I am an animal lover and my stay here was filled with amazing experiences: I got to hold baby ducks and chicks that were only hours old, I befriended a grumpy bull, convinced a shy deer to trust me and eat some cucumber, spent hours walking around the grounds escorted by four wonderful dogs, saw a family of water buffalo swim in the pond with Natalie the deer, and watched Louis the beagle play chase and tag with 4 large water buffalo.

This lovely farm stay also included three huge meals a day expertly prepared by Chef Win. I enjoyed some of the best Thai dishes I have had in the three years I have lived in Thailand. The meals were all served in a lovely outdoor dining area overlooking the fields.

I was there on July 1st which is Canada day so Ae helped me celebrate by decorating lanterns that we released into the night sky and then he had me participate in a special candle lighting ceremony at his spirit house. Both he and Win go out of their way to make sure that your stay at their farm is special.

This experience was so much more than I expected - super kind caring hosts, lovely accommodations, amazing food, snuggly dogs and my own Thai Safari. I will definitely be back…..

I cannot remember how I discovered Thung Dong Farm! All I know is that the friendly email responses from the owner, Ae, made me feel that I could trust him as well as what was describe on the website. His commitment to ensure that I had a pleasant experience was honest and truthful.
The farm website is quite easy to navigate and honestly doesn’t even capture the friendliness and service that you receive at the farm. Ae and his cousin Win ensure that your needs are met.

Let us not forget the playfulness and the friendly dogs: Sam who is quite photogenic, Izzie soft camel color Labrador that likes to nap on the steps of the main house; The Beagles Louis and Molly and Lucy. Oscar the cat is a suave seductor and jumps in your lap if you feel like playing with him. All of the animals are treated with respect and love and they welcomed me as an honorary friend of their living paradise; and then there is Natalie the deer and the nice rescue story of the pink buffalo!
The three delicious fresh meals are served in your own private dining outdoor Sala which made me feel like a queen! The succulent fresh menu offers a variety of Thai, Western and Vegan choices. They take every detail attention to your dietary needs including the extra snack of chocolate chip cookies, fresh bananas, passion fruit, mango, watermelon and vegetables. Khun Win only uses fresh ingredients and believe me that your palate will notice it!

I was very impressed with the beautiful cabin wood construction and the comfortable chairs and bed. I slept like a baby!
You have the farm all to yourself. Ae gave me a nice tour of the area and I was able to see the coffee plantation of the rich coffee that I had every day as well as admire the lusciousness of the jungle. There are opportunities to engage in other activities mentioned on the website but due to Covid 19 restrictions they are temporarily closed. The most amazing thing is that you don’t need other activities when you have the whole farm at your disposal! A river runs through the farm and I soaked my feet in the refreshing waters on a warm afternoon after returning from a walk to the village. Next time, I will go to the waterfall.
I am looking at my calendar to book my next stay at Thung Dong Farm. I feel that I have found my new home in Chiang Mai!

This was our second visit to Thung Dong Farm, and I think (if it's possible) that the kids loved it more this time than last time. It was the little things that Khun Ae did that made it so magical-- taking the kids along to help make a bonfire for the buffalos each night, making lanterns and sending them up into the sky, going for long walks in the cool, fresh morning air with Sam the dog. We also so appreciated the care taken to make sure each meal consisted of foods our kids were happy to eat and the super comfortable rooms (and kitchen with great coffee and kid-friendly Milo). My kids were crying on the last night, not wanting to leave, so I can guarantee we'll be back for another visit as soon as we can. It's a truly magical place.

The farm itself and the surrounding countryside is very beautiful and makes for a perfect place for a family get away.
Khun Ae is a fantastic host and makes you feel at home on the farm. He was excellent when interacting with our children and explaining the various aspects of his job as a farmer. They were able to enjoy the freedom that comes with being in the countryside, and loved spending time with the animals, although their favourite activity was getting the chance to ride as passenger on a motorbike!
The 4-day package is very good value for money. The food was excellent and accommodation comfortable. We look forward to returning to the farm in the future.

My family and I have just spent a wonderful few days on the farm. The farm is located outside of Chiang Mai in a beautiful, scenic and tranquil valley and it is all complimented by farmer Ae and all of his wonderful animals!
Ae and his staff are very welcoming and helpful. They arranged various excursions for us and even a masseuse to visit the farm. The meals were excellent and very plentiful.
It's the perfect place to unwind and relax away from the bustle of the city and to get back to nature!

We appreciated your hospitality over the last 4 days. My family especially my son, Darrell enjoy himself a lot. When he was on the plane yesterday on the way home, he cried! He wanted to stay at the farm and he told us to bring him back again! He like the motorcycle, fishing and camp fire very much.
Please tell your sister she is such an amazing cook. Usually, I do not take much rice but the food is so delicious that I have a double portion every meal! She can become a chef if she comes to Singapore!
You also have impart us knowledge on the farm animals and showing the kids how to set-up fire and fish... No matter what requests the kids have, you will always entertain them. Appreciate your kind gesture to organize a mini birthday celebration for my son.

We can all warmly recommend a stay at the Thung Dong Farm. We visited as a family in three generations and all agreed it was a holiday highlight!
Khun Ae was a great and genuine host. We really enjoyed the activities he initiated for our kids and family - including fishing, lantern decor, egg hunt... you name it!
Khun Sai offered great hospitality and served amazing food - especially the Khao Soi was so tasty!
The animals on the farm were all very friendly and Sam (the leading dog) a true companion as he followed us everywhere on and outside the farm 😄.

We had the most amazing time at Thung Dong Farm with Farmer Ae and his animals! It was great to get our children out of the city and closer to nature, while also allowing them to wander independently feeding the animals, holding or petting the bunnies, fishing in the lake, or just reading a book on the Farm House balcony. Thung Dong Farm is both beautiful and relaxing; for the guests anyway! Farmer Ae and his sister work very hard to make all of their guests (you’ll meet friends from around the globe, but only a few, as there are only 3 accommodations on the farm) feel warmly welcomed and well looked after—from the delicious food they prepare for you 3 times a day, to the clean and comfortable accommodations they provide and all the other extra touches they include like nightly bonfires (bring your own supplies for s’mores, as they’re not available in Chiang Mai), Farmer Ae’s amazing stories about the farms’ furry and feathered residents, decorating paper lanterns with the kids to release into the star-filled night sky and even a short trip into the village to visit the nearby Rose Farm for delicious drinks and baked treats and to grab a variety of local snacks and delicacies on the way back to the Farm (like a mini food tour!). Lastly, Ae also arranged a wonderful itinerary for us for a day trip away from the farm to go north to Chiang Rai. You will not regret booking a stay at Thung Dong Farm; like us, you will make memories there that will last a lifetime and have you longing to come back for more! Just had a memorable stay at Thung Dong Farm. It is a great experience for city dwellers like us to experience life in the country side. The place was beautiful and Mr. Ae was a gem. My girl had a great time especially with the freedom to roam; rabbits, the golden retrievers Sam and Izzie, and chickens and ducks. The highlights were being able to give Izzie a wash in the river and to trek through the cool countryside with Mr. Ae and Sam where Mr. Ae pointed out lots of interesting things to us. My family of four spent a magical three days on the farm. Looking over the extensive and positive feedback left by others I don't have much to add except to echo that the beauty of the farm is only strengthened by the care of it's owner Khun Ae.
Khun Ae organised our stay wonderfully and helped suggest appropriate activities. He was very thoughtful and even surprised our son with a floating lantern which my son found to be one of the best parts of the whole trip! Khun Ae was very attentive yet respectful throughout the stay - we had all the privacy we needed and the second we had a question or need Khun Ae seemed to appear with the answer.
The farm itself and the accommodation are lovely, so much so that we didn't mind when it rained for a full day because we had so much fun splashing in puddles and having tea on our enclosed verandah. Food was excellent as well, with the chef catering as much as possible to our picky 2.5year old.
Overall I would highly recommend this experience, and thank Khun Ae again for his excellent care and suggestions during our visit.

We arrived at the Thung Dong farm towards the last leg of our 18 day tour of Thailand. For the kids, the build-up of the expectations of the “farm stay” was huge but I was a little tentative, wondering if the village like atmosphere of the farm would keep up their interest for long. I was however overwhelmed at the way the kids took to the farm and settled into the lovely atmosphere created by the team at TDF. As per the kids, the Thung Dong farm stay scored the highest points compared to some of the premium properties we stayed at, that offered lavish landscapes, infinite pool and the works.
Thung Dong farm was truly magical! Kids (Tara, 12 & Vivaan, 5) were just soaking in this unique experience and it was wonderful to see them get so involved with the animals. Getting so close to nature and its beauty was an enriching experience. Watching dogs, cats, hens, ducks, geese, cows, buffaloes and even a deer all living harmoniously and so friendly with human contact was a great life lesson for us all. Kids were in total ecstasy.
We made a strong bond with the animals and the people at the farm. Ae was great with everything. We were well looked after, the food was awesome and they had no problem sticking to our vegetarian diet request. Kids had a memorable time with Ae, he was simply superb. They trekked, swam in the stream, made lantern, kathrongs, played board games over dinner, they also joked and laughed a lot. Me and my wife could just sit back and enjoy watching them. The Beagles, Molly & Louis, Oscar the cat, Izze the Labrador, her intelligent partner Sam and the cow fondly called “Dang’s mother” will be edged in our memories for long. We were also glad to have visited the nearby Hot springs and taken up the massage session at the farm with Khun Nee which was intense and relaxing too. It was only towards the end of our stay we realized there was so much more we wanted to do. The Jungle zip line, boat ride in the lake at the farm, visit to the nearby temples, were all left out. So we will be back TDF! And the next time, will not miss catching up with a round at the Highland Golf course either!

Families who love nature and animals will love Thung Dong Farm as we have.
From the initial email contact, Ae has been beyond helpful in organising both our trip to the farm and guiding us on the rest of our time in Chiang Mai.
The Farm House was clean, comfortable and well stocked with all we needed. All meals were home cooked and plentiful.
Ae clearly loves animals and it comes through in all that he does. It was wonderful for the children to see how the dogs, cats, chickens, geese, ducks, guinea fowl, rabbits, buffalo, deer, pig, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, Fantail Pigeons, love birds (I think that's what they are!), can all live together in harmony.
We felt like part of the family - feeding the animals, taking the dogs for a bath and to the vet for their injections and joining in village festivities.
The kids (Age 9 and 13) loved the animals and had favourites during our 4 day stay. Molly the beagle and Oscar the cat for the kids and Henry, the head rooster were our favourites.
Thung Dong is definitely a lovely and well worth visiting and staying as long as you can!

We recently visited Thung Dong Farm for part of our vacation in Thailand. What a great choice it was for my family--me, my husband, my two children (ages 3 and 5), and my 73 year old mother. We are American expats living in Korea (My mom flew over from the states to join us) and we were looking for a family friendly adventurous vacation. We stayed in Chiang Mai for the first part of our trip and finished with 4 nights at the farm. My kids absolutely loved being out on Thung Dong Farm... every single part of it.... the pets to play with...helping Ae feed the fish, birds, bunnies, guinea pigs, and hedge hogs...the crafty projects like making lanterns and floating them into the sky...eating outside each meal...exploring the local area attractions...eating bananas and fruit Ae had just picked/cut from a nearby tree...having "tea" (hot chocolate for them) each afternoon...etc. As adults, in addition to enjoying everything the kids liked, we just loved the feel of being so isolated on such a beautiful piece of land. It was so great to just relax and enjoy the beauty. Ae is such a hard worker and did everything possible to make sure our stay was perfect--and he succeeded (minus a few too many bug bites for me ;-)...but that's just part of being on a farm in Thailand! Ae made sure the Farm House was clean and the gardens looked lovely; our meals were prepared and to our liking; our kids were always happy and enjoying something new and fun on the farm. Ae was the perfect amount of present when needed and scarce so we could have some down time. And he was amazingly helpful with our transfers both to and from the farm. We couldn't have asked for a better stay, and I was also incredibly impressed with Ae's professionalism and kindness in our email interactions leading up to our stay. He spent a lot of time helping me organize my trip and understand Thailand before we came. If you're looking for a relaxing, exciting vacation with more of a rustic feel, Thung Dong Farm is the place for you! I know I'll be recommending it to all my friends and family!

Thank you Ae for the fantastic and warmth of your hospitality that you extended to our family. We had an awesome time and it was a great experience for us especially as we come from a city. It feels like the farm belonged to us and we were free to explore any areas on our own!
Not to say, the kids love feeding the animals and they wanted to feed them every now and then. My son loved the ‘pretend’ fishing experience the most and it was not difficult for him to learn. Sam and Izzie, the dogs, were so lovely and extremely friendly, they look forward to cuddles and snacks all the time. The searching of fireflies was an eye opening experience for the kids too to come so up close to them.
We gotta thank the masseur lady, Khun Nee, for the awesome massage as well. Everything was on point and we almost fell alseep! The meals were delicious too and they were very nice to accommodate to our own meals times as we normally eat quite late.
I suggest anyone who loves to experience nature and a real country farm to drop by Thung Dong for and you will surely enjoy this memorable experience!

I loved Thung Dong farm from the second I stepped into it. Great warm welcome and care from Ae the friendly owner. Beautiful playful family dogs that will always entertain you. The birds, buffaloes and the deer yes a dear all with the landscape, rivers and waterfalls onsite and nearby make this a farmers paradise. I really enjoyed my stay; the room was amazing and with the veranda and amazing soothing view, not as important but the widescreen TV and wifi available. Food is magnificent. Ae is always more than ready to take you to beautiful nearby sites and tour and activities to do onsite. Thanks Ae for the beautiful stay I will definitely come back to Thung Dong Farm in the future. :)

My stay at Thung Dong Farm was beyond perfect and is such a lovely memory. I was looking for a beautiful and quiet place to escape from the touristic areas, I couldn't have picked a better place : the surroundings are breathtaking, the farm is magnificent and I felt so grateful everyday to have the opportunity to enjoy the nature & the animals. The room was quite big, very comfy, nicely and tastefully decorated. The typical food was delicious. Ae is a wonderful host who did everything to ensure my stay was special. I got pretty well the "vibes" from the farm, the village with a lot of activities, from a stroll in the jungle to the hot spring water, a great Thai massage, offerings at the temple... I stayed 5 days and it felt like home - I could have stayed a lot longer!Thung Dong Farm is the perfect place to recharge and reconnect to nature. Mon séjour à Thung Dong Farm a été parfait et j'en garde un merveilleux souvenir. Je cherchais un endroit beau et calme en pleine nature pour me ressourcer à l'écart de l'agitation des zones touristiques, et je pense que je n'aurais pas pu faire un meilleur choix : le cadre est magique, la ferme est tout simplement magnifique, c'est un bonheur sans cesse renouvelé de s'y promener et d'apprécier le spectacle qu'offrent la nature et tous les animaux., La chambre était spacieuse, confortable et décorée avec beaucoup de goût, les repas vraiment typiques et délicieux (et très copieux !). Ae est un hôte adorable et attentionné, qui m'a fait partager sa passion de la ferme et a été aux petits soins avec moi. J'ai pu avoir un aperçu complet de l'univers autour de la ferme : trek dans la jungle, marché du village, sources d'eau chaude, massage traditionnel, offrandes... les 5 jours sont passés très vite et je me suis sentie comme à la maison. Je ne peux que chaudement recommander un séjour à Thung Dong Farm, pour se ressourcer et reconnecter avec la nature et tout ce qu'elle a à offrir. Merci Ae pour ce très bon moment, je reviendrai!

Staying at Thung Dong Farm was one of the highlights of our time in Thailand. Everything was perfect-- from the logistics, to the room, to the food, to the chilly mornings, warm afternoons, and magical evenings. Khun Ae and the entire team were so friendly and helpful, and our 3 year old considers them all his 'new friends' and is constantly asking when we can go back to the farm. We loved the morning walks in the jungle, the afternoons of feeding the animals, making lanterns, and drinking coffee. The campfire was a huge highlight on our last night, and the videos of the lantern released are on repeat! For our city kids, the chance to run around free and engage with nature was priceless. We already miss the delicious food and coffee now that we are at home and cooking for ourselves.... and drinking coffee which is not grown on the hill just above our room! We will definitely be back!

A beautiful place surrounded by jungle and National Park in amongst hills and mountains. I think that Thung Dong Farm is a wonderful retreat to spend time to unwind from the pressures of the business world and is aided by good communications if the need were to arise. The atmosphere of the farm is tranquil with good Thai food to suit all tastes. In addition there are some interesting places to visit in the area and activities on and around the farm if you are so inclined! I was looked after very well by attentive and friendly staff and for me I could not ask for better, exactly what I needed and wanted after the stresses of everyday life!

My Thai husband and I spent three days at Thung Dong Farm. We have lived in Bangkok for over 15 years and visited many holiday homes and places. We had a wonderful and exceptional stay at Thung Dong farm which Tom called “a dream come true”, and I agree.
Communication and organisation were swift and spot on all round; the owner/ manager Khun Ae and his help speak good English, are very friendly and committed, the accommodation and natural surroundings of the farm are beautiful and truly quiet and peaceful, the animals are adorable, the food is very good. The farm offers three lodgings, and the resulting limited number of visitors allows for a personable and relaxing holiday experience. You can choose to take part in a number of activities on and around the farm, or just breathe in and out while enjoying the peaceful and lovely natural setting and views. We came back home completely enchanted and relaxed, and that impression stayed with us even when our everyday routine had caught up with us again!. We are planning to be back very soon. We had the most amazing time at Thung Dong farm and seriously regretted only booking for 1 night. I wish we could have stayed for a minimum of 3 or 4 nights. There is so much to see and places to visit around the area, but even just staying on the farm for the whole day is lovely. The place is so serene, I think it was our most relaxing day ever! (our 2 years old is very active!) The food was lovely, not to mention that the Farm House is absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. Our daughter fell in love with Izzy and Sam (two sweet dogs) and Oscar, the cat and had a blast feeding all those chickens, ducks and rabbits. The animals live a very happy life there!

Мы замечательно провели время на этой ферме, к сожалению, забронировали всего на одну ночь, о чем очень пожалели по приезду. Оптимально было бы остаться там на три-четыре ночи как минимум. Мы весь день провели на ферме, но вообще в округе очень много мест, куда можно сходить (дневные экскурсии). Само место, эта долина, окруженная горами– это просто мега мощное расслабление, кажется, мы так замечательно не отдыхали с ребенком еще ни разу. Для детей вообще потрясающе. Отличная здоровая еда, хозяин очень ответственно подошел к нашей просьбе не добавлять сахара (мне нельзя). Сам дом в котором мы жили (Farm House) – это тайский тиковый дом с историей, очень красивый, все удобно устроено. Дочка полюбила всех животных на ферме с первого взгляда, особенно двух собак – Иззи и Сэма и кота Оскара. Ей дали кормить уток, кроликов и кур, она не могла нарадоваться.
Мы очень благодарны Ае за его внимание ко всем нашим просьбам уже на стадии переписки. Он устроил нам сюрприз, поселив нас в большой дом вместо Garden Room, которую мы изначально забронировали. Очень надеемся, что сможем вернуться туда отдохнуть еще раз!!

My family, together with both my dad and mum, travelled together and spent a splendid 4D3N at Thung Dong Farm. It was a special time there, had a relaxing time to ourselves while our 8 year old boy and 5 year old girl roamed around the farm spending time with Izzy (the sweetest dog ever), Sam, Oscar, the bunnies, the chickens, and ducks. The air is so fresh and coming from Singapore, we are amazed about the dust-free environment at the farm. Every meal we had there were marvellous too!! And of course, it’s the sincerity of Khun Ae that touched us! Ae made sure that my family are well taken care of, even before arriving at his farm, providing us advice on where to visit at CM city, and helping us with reservations at CM’s best eateries as well. He has a passion for the farm, animals and the guests that come to stay. Thanks again for the beautiful holiday that we had at Thung Dong and we will definitely be back again soon!

I know it’s going to be special right from the day Ae replied to my email. He was all apologetic about the late reply and is so friendly and accommodating in every email that follows. When I shared that the trip was to celebrate Ian’s birthday, he was excited as his also falls on the same day and promised to make that day extraordinary for Ian and he did. We love the warm reception and Ae is very knowledgeable. The farmstay is so memorable and we will miss the morning walks with faithfully Izzy and Sam, delicious home-cooked meals, and all the farm animals. We’re glad Day 3 was sunny and the day tour recommended by Ae was wonderful - The Giant, waterfall, Mae Kampong village and hot spring. The massage was relaxing and the masseur was skilful and targeted troubled tense areas. The birthday dinner was sumptuous and hand crafted fruit cake was Ae’s thoughtful attention to details as Ian does not like sweet cakes. Very memorable too was the release of the sky lantern which Ae made it happened the following night as it rained the night of the birthday celebrations. Both of us had a very relaxing break and we look forward to returning soon. Ae, thanks for your hospitality and warm reception. You have found the IKIGAI - the purpose in life and the reason for getting up in the morning. All the best in your future plans for the farm.

We loved our stay at Thung Dong, it really exceeded our already high expectations. Ae is a fabulous host and has done an incredible job developing this unique property. The whole experience was very restful and rejuvenating for us and our 3-year-old daughter had the best time ever, constantly asking to go outside and find Izzy the Labrador and Oscar the cat. We loved having the freedom to do our own thing, roam around the spacious and beautiful property and wade through the river or stroll around the meadow, but also have some organised trips which were well worthwhile. We were already scheming how to come back before we left!

I loved Thung Dong farm from the second that I stepped onto it. Great warm welcome and care from Ae the friendly owner. Beautiful playful family dogs that will always entertain you. The birds, buffaloes and the deer, yes a dear, all with the landscape, rivers and waterfalls onsite and nearby make this a farmer's paradise. I really enjoyed my stay; the room was amazing and with the veranda and amazing soothing view, not as important but the widescreen TV and WiFi available. Food is magnificent. We have just returned from Thung Dong Farm. WE LOVE IT!
The people and the animals make this farm stay one of a kind. Ae, the owner, is a wonderful spirit. Wow. The hospitality at Thung Dong Farm is superb. Honest, real and done with love. We are grateful to have experienced Ae, his staff, the animals and the beautiful surroundings.
I’m very impressed.
My family and I stayed in the Farmhouse accommodation during our 6 days at Thung Dong. It was perfect for us I have two young sons, 3 and 8 years. Ae ensured that we always had all we needed throughout the stay like milk, yoghurt and cereal. The house is very comfortable. Mattresses firm and even a TV with cable! This on a farm in the mountains. We didn’t really need the TV very much though with so much to do.
Ae thinks of everything. He brought us to waterfalls and hot springs, tours of the village and temples.
What I liked about it was that the stay was very relaxing Not too busy. Our sons ran around the farm while we spent time on the huge balcony/dining area reading. It’s very serene.
Ae made time to be with the kids so that they both forged a great relationship with him.
We loved being on Thung Dong Farm so much we’re planning our trip back!
Highly recommended. Just book! You will not regret it.

It was the first farmstay for my family and we totally loved it! Especially all 3 of my really noisy and active kids. Ae was very kind and patient with them. It is just the ideal place to bring children, giving them an opportunity to enjoy the real Thailand. A BIG thank you to you for the unforgettable experience you have given to our family. My 5yr old son was so sad when he had to leave the farm that he cried and he said he had to go back to look for Uncle Ae and feed the rabbits otherwise they will be hungry!
There are so many things to love about the farm. First and foremost, your superb Thai hospitality which attended to our every need from bed arrangements, meal requirements and always patiently listening and engaging my active children. You have also taught me many things through your love for your animals and farm, how you learn English on your own and the way you always make your guests feel at home. We are fortunate to have met an inspiring person like you on this trip.
The food your staff prepared was wonderful! Authentic home cooked meals with fresh ingredients and catering to the taste-buds of children as well. I especially love the daily porridge, bbq, fried banana leaves and fruits...

... my teenage nieces and son love Sam and Izzie. It is impressive how Izzie will lead us to the river and protect us from danger! They also love the sky lanterns which is a first experience for us.

Thank you so much for the three night stay we recently had at your farm. It was a unique and special holiday experience and absolutely the highlight of our two week holiday in Thailand.
Having three young boys aged, 7, 5 and 2, the farm was the perfect place to let them run free and do all the things that boys like doing- get dirty, make noise and explore! They loved interacting with and feeding all of the animals, so much so, that much of the rest of our holiday was spent talking about the animals and what we thought they would be doing at that point in time!
Ae and Nack could not have been better hosts. They genuinely love children and built up a lovely relationship with our three kids in the short time we were there. They made us feel as though we were the first family to ever stay on the farm!
Ae took us on a day trip around the local area which included a visit to the hot springs, the Giant tree and the zip line in the jungle. It was lots of fun and the boys loved coming home with quail eggs cooked in the hot springs, to eat for dinner!
The Farmhouse was a beautiful place to stay. The fact it has no windows (only fly-screens in the bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen) made you feel as though you were really experiencing the sounds and smells of the jungle around you. The decoration in the farmhouse is even more beautiful than in the photos online. Better than any five star hotel I can imagine.
Perhaps the most memorable thing for our boys will be the little motorbike rides Ae and Nack took them for around the farm, as well as the rides they had in the back of the open air farm truck. Two things they would never be allowed to experience in Australia, but that added to their feeling of adventure.
Whilst on the farm, I needed to get some pain relief for a trapped nerve in my leg. Ae contacted his uncle in Chiang Mai to get hold of some medication for me. It was delivered to me the same day. It was great to know that if the kids got sick, medical help was not far away.
I cannot recommend a stay on Thung Dong Farm more highly. It is adventure tourism in the jungle, but with caring hosts and genuine comforts. We would love to visit Ae and Nack and the farm again one day!

This is our 2nd stay on the farm; we last stayed in November 2016. Not only did we experience different weather conditions, hot in the day & very cold nights and, as Ae was away, we also experienced a different group of people looking after us.
For this visit we stayed at The Farm House and it was a perfect accommodation for Iris & I as it had everything we wanted; a pantry, dining area, very spacious bedroom with en-suite facilities and a beautiful garden....heaven on earth!
We were looked after by Nack, Pon and Mai who literally pampered us throughout our stay with good food and great company. Nack took us for a walk to the small villages near the farm and we enjoyed mixing with the 'locals' and trying some roadside snacks & drinks.
Nack arranged massages on the farm from Khun Nee; this was the real thing by a professional and we recommend to anyone staying on the farm to have one to know what a real Thai massage should be!
The farm is looking majestic just like the last time we were here, more tidy and orderly in some areas but still having that charm to attract us to return again and again!

We stayed at the farm for 2 nights and we loved it immediately, from the moment we arrived. Our son directly found lots of friends! We made Krathongs, let a sky lantern fly, had a bbq. The food was really good and the host made us feel like home! Very nice place to take a rest. Hope to go again someday.

Dear Khun Ae and Khun Nack,
Our family had a truly unforgettable experience at the farm. My kids said it was better than any other farm stay they have had in Australia. And I have to agree wholeheartedly!
It was such a peaceful and relaxing stay. I can still hear the soothing sound of the cow bells which lulled us to sleep.
There was something for everyone: hubby could watch TV and finish reading books; I learnt some really interesting gardening tips from Khun Ae and my children have discovered the joy of fishing with a bamboo pole and line. Khun Nack was so kind and patient to take them to fish every single day. (all fish were returned to the lake unharmed!)
And of course the animals, the animals! We loved all the dogs and Oscar too. He spent many hours curled up on our laps whilst we watched TV or read books. It was great that wifi was limited to the sala and so we could disconnect ourselves from our electronic devices to some extent.
We would definitely like to come back for a longer stay soon.

Thank you very much for the wonderful time we had at Thung Dong Farm. Though we could stay only for a night at the Farm House, we are fully impressed with the effort you have put in to develop the farm and your love for animals and nature.
At the farm our son and daughter had a great time with the dogs Sam, Easy, Lucy and Mary, feeding the guinea fowls, hens, ducks, geese, and rabbits, visiting the horses, piglets and cows. You have landscaped the farmhouse very well. The attention you have given to details is extremely impressive. The interiors have been beautifully done using local wooden artefacts. The food was simple and very tasty. We had a visit to the small stream which runs through the farm, which is memorable. The pristine surroundings and the ice cold water from the hills make it a unique experience.
As a very friendly and energetic host, Ae makes the farm stay memorable for everyone. You took the effort to make my son happy with the hot air balloon and floating the Krathong in the night.
Overall, we had a lovely time in Thung Dong Farm and we hope to visit the farm again soon.

There's nowhere else like Thung Dong Farm Stay. If you're an animal lover and looking to get out of the busy cities, this place is for you. There's a calm atmosphere, super friendly dogs (4), Oscar the cat, many bird species, horses, cows, buffaloes, pigs and bunnies! We were able to help feed the rescued baby birds Ae found on the jungle floor and hold the baby bunnies.
We loved everything during our stay. It's a very relaxing place and there's things to do during the afternoon. Ae took us on a trek through the hills. He showed us how the local villagers live in the jungle, we walked through a passion fruit farm (they were delicious), and saw many different plant species. Near by there's hot springs that you can visit as well
We were served 3 big meals a day of authentic Northern Thai dishes, which were delicious. We were also taught how to make papaya salad.
One evening Ae had us make wishes on lanterns and we lit them to send off into the night sky. A pretty neat experience for us Canadian's to experience a Thai tradition like that. The farm was so quiet that we could hear our own heartbeat at night! The farm is great for anyone. It's a tranquil place and a unique way to immerse yourself into Northern Thai culture.

We stayed at Thung Dong Farm, an hours drive from Chiang Mai - a farm tucked at the foot of the mountains. On arrival we were greeted by 5 Labradors, an army of guinea fowls, ducks, geese, doves, rabbits roaming the extensive compound. The farmhouse is surrounded by flowering torch gingers, fishtail palms, mango trees and all sorts of flowering shrubs. Leekwanyew creepers cover the walls of the buildings, fuchsia coloured bougainvillea hang from the cantilevered veranda. The interior is pleasant and peaceful. Quiet and clean beauty. The details, like the locks, handles, picture frames, etc...speak of the ingenuity and artistic industry of the artisans and builders. After dinner the rain came. Apparently it hadn't rained for about 3 months. Our host Ae, a friendly and lively chappy told us that we brought the rain to the valley for which he thanked us. My husband Jack and I took a morning stroll before breakfast and the ground smell of life after the night of rain. The vegetation soaking the rain water and the mists hanging over the valley is worthy of a postcard picture. In the afternoon, I followed a trail up hill above the house. I passed by clusters of coffee shrubs struggling to survive the drought. At the end of the trail a 'sala' perched quietly like a sentry watching the happenings in the valley below.

Martinho loved to stay in your farm, when we got back to Chiang Mai he made a call to my mother explaining everything, it was funny to listen the way he describes the farm! It was very relaxing to stay in your farm, the house is very cozy and the farm is beautiful. It is very well organized and requires a lot of work but you can be very proud because you are doing very well. We will definitely go to the farm again, please update me about what is going on like more baby pigs and the weather!
On Monday Martinho will start school, so next time we go to the farm it will be on a weekend. We are in touch, send me news!

We stayed by 'chance' at Thung Dong Farm in northeastern Thailand. An article about the farm in Bangkok Airways inflight magazine had made us curious.. Ae, the owner, picked us up in Chiang Mai and took us to his paradise in the mountains about an hour north east of the city. We stayed in the former chilli pickers house, now The Farm House. - the dream come true of a half-open, old and very tastefully renovated and furnished Thai teak-house. The evenings we spent by having delicious northern Thai meals in one of the cozy wooden salas. At night in bed we listened to the sounds of the jungle being almost one with nature. We will not soon forget Jack, the talking Mynah bird, the Buffaloes and the four clever dogs plus all the other animals. Ae drove us to a traditional market, to the nearby hot springs for a massage and we walked to the coffee plants in the mountains. He showed us how to make Kathrongs that we set afloat at night with candles in one of the lakes. We learnt some Thai cooking, drank tea made in golden cups in a sala with a view and watched the sunset at a very mystical ruined temple….it was wonderful!These were the best days of our trip.
Dear Ae, thank you for your hospitality, your patience and your cordiality. The stay at your wonderful Thung Dong Farm was a highlight and a Godsent present for us. We wish you all the best and hope to come back soon with our families.

We are now back in the UK and were shocked on our first night back home when it snowed. Thank you for a wonderful stay last month, the children are asking when we can get some animals in the garden and Seb has developed a taste for passion fruit and motorbikes. I'm sure that Bea would have happily brought the dogs home with her. Our stay at Thung Dong Farm was the highlight of our time in Thailand, the farm house was out of this world and the food was excellent. We especially valued your hospitality, you made us feel very welcome in a lovely, relaxed, informal atmosphere. It felt like a home away from home.
When we are back in northern Thailand we will certainly visit again.

Hi Ae and everyone else at the farm!
We are now home in Sweden again after our 7 week S.E. Asia tour. The stay at Thung dong was at the end of the trip and we really enjoyed our 3-nights stay with you. Now we´re back home our 5-year old Cornelia talks a lot about the animals on the farm and especially about her "own" baby rabbit Coffee!
She also wonders who´s feeding the chickens now she’s not there!
The true and warm hospitality we were greeted with is hard to describe. Ae was really doing his best all the time to make us enjoy our stay and we really did. You can really tell that he loves what he´s doing.
We were lucky enough to be at Thung Dong in time for the yearly Chiang Mai Flower Festival which we visited. It was lovely to make friends with the local people and Ae invited us to some snacks and beer, what a host he is! And our 1-year old son Victor, who usually never sits with anyone else than his mom and dad, was really happy being carried around by Ae meeting all the people at the festival. If he ever wants to become a farmer we know where to send him!
To all you other travellers out there, you should consider going to Thung Dong for a different, true and fantastic experience far away from the beaten tourist track. Ae is one-of-a kind and we really wish him all the luck. Thank you so much Ae for a magic experience and really hope to see you again someday!

Dear Ae, Thanks so much for your care and hospitality, everyone is so nice and friendly on the farm, we enjoyed our stay very much. We also all enjoyed our daily walks to see the farm animals. It was very relaxing to sit on the balcony and listen to the various farm animal sounds. And we are very happy to have the chance to look after the baby rabbits during our stay and feed the animals. It was amazing to see the new baby cow being born, she is such a lucky girl to born on this beautiful farm. It was also memorable to enjoy the barbecue by the fireplace.

The children voted Thung Dong the best holiday. Hock Teck and I voted Thung Dong the most relaxing holiday as individuals and the most engaging & enriching for the children as parents. No words can express my gratitude to you about how you helped my family, both individually and as a family together. We love the beautiful krathong. It requires loving purposeful focussed hard work for half a day, then waiting and waiting till at night.., and then you can truly feel and see the beauty of the krathong floating on the water, the shimmering glitter...oooh a true jewel!
We just looked at all the pictures compiled by Hock-Teck and all of us can't wait to visit your farm again as soon as we can! Every morning I would run down and play with your dogs. I love to hug the dogs especially Izzie! Thanks for teaching me how to make Krathong, lantern and feeding the animals. When you teach me something I would be very enthusiastic! I enjoyed helping you a lot too! I would even want to learn Thai so that I can understand more about the farm. My mama said that if I want to go back I have to work hard for my exam just like you.

Staying on Thung Dong farm has been a wonderful experience for both adults and kids alike. Ae was extremely helpful, going the extra mile to coordinate the transport and a boat ride across Doi Saket Dam to shorten our journey tremendously.
The farm house is the traditional Thai wooden house, tastefully decorated giving a very relaxed feel. The city kids just fell in love with the rustic touch of the wooden house. Who can blame them? We don't get that in our country these days!
It was extremely lucky for us to witness the birth of a baby rabbit and the piglets. Sad too that they didn’t all make it. It was a learning journey for the kids, which text books cannot teach. The kids love the animals especially Micy, the Leopard Cat, Sam and Oscar. They have set their minds that they are going to return to the farm soon! We miss the campfire, sky lanterns, fire crackers, BBQ, traditional Thai food, feeding the animals, star gazing etc..did I mention that I have never seen a shooting star until I visited Thung Dong Farm?!
The sweet memories we have of the farm will stay with us for a long, long time. Thank you for everything!

After a very hot and sticky 4 days in town during the Songkran Festival we arrived to a very friendly welcome from Ae on a cool and peaceful Thung Dong Farm! It was about 6 degrees cooler on the farm with a fresh breeze and an occasional shower. We stayed in the Sunset Room which was even cooler and so cosy and the kids loved The Bunk Room.
Nack took us for early morning treks and Joy prepared the most delicious meals we had during our time in Thailand. Ae introduced us to all of the animals and we helped during feeding time which the boys enjoyed a lot.
Overall even if it was the ‘hot’ season we had a most wonderful and memorable stay on the farm and are looking forward to visiting again.

My parents and uncle with their children spent 3 days 2 nights of wonderful experience at the farm. The farm house was beautiful, nice and cosy. The amenities such as big ponds, HD television and others were great. My parents with my sister and I stayed in the Sunset Room and Bunk Room. The Sunset Room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was good, so was the television with a wide range of exciting channels. The Bunk Room had most of the facilities as The Sunset Room. The bathrooms were luxurious and clean. However, the water from the shower is a bit cold and the towel is not that good at absorbing water. Therefore, overall the accommodation was still splendid. The farm was very peaceful and the cooling weather in December was perfect for me. The dogs were friendly and the animals were allowed to roam freely. Ae was very helpful and he helped us to make a fire around the lake at night. My cousin and I paddled around the pond on the small boat. The food was delicious and service was great. Ae was very generous and offered us lanterns lighting. The camp fire and BBQ were fantastic & awesome. The 3 days at the farm was our best days in Thailand. We will definitely return if I visit Chiang Mai again.

Ae replies : Sawadee krup Yi Xuan! Thank you for taking the time to write to us and so happy that you and your family enjoy your time on the farm. Thank you also for let us know about the two problem that you have as can help make better for other guests. The Bunk Room, The Garden Room and general bathroom have individual hot water shower units (The Farm House has hot water tank and The Sunset Room have central hot water unit). Your stay with us at the start of winter. When it get really cold we have to reduce the water inflow to the shower units a little so not quite as much water go through and can give time for the water to heat. I think that we forgot to tell you how to reduce down the water supply and so the water probably was not as hot as you would like. Also we forget that some of our guests homes are in very warm places like Singapore and so they can feel the cold much more than us who get used to cold weather in the winter. Now we will tell our guests how to make water more hot!
The towels are very new and Joy tell me that she gave you never use before towels! This our mistake and now Joy say she will wash well 2 or 3 times before we give to guests for the first time and then no problem for making sure that they dry very well! Thanks again Yi Xuan and for sure hope to see you all again one day soon. Best wish to you all and bye for now. From Ae.

I think I will try making some of these this weekend using a hotplate to gill instead of BBQ but not sure if they will be as good as on the farm! …….and thanks to you Ae, I respect you for your love of nature and leaving city life behind to work the farm. Keep up the great work and we would surely recommend friends keen in visiting Chiang Mai to experience Thung Dong Farm Stay!

A stay at Thung Dong Farm is a must if you want something different, an excellent host, great food, very friendly people, mod cons and lovely accommodation. Unfortunately we could only stay 3 nights after touring busy Europe and the farm was a very pleasant place to relax and unwind. Enjoyed a dip in the river flowing through the farm, a pleasant trek up the mountain to a waterfall,a visit to hot springs and generally spending time about the farm ,sitting by the lake feeding the fish, ducks and geese, but Ae can arrange whatever it is you like to do. Nack is a great guide and alrounder and Joy is a great cook. You have a beautiful farm Ae and maybe we can visit again one day for a longer stay .Thank you Ae, Nack and Joy.

The Farm is a fantastic place of peace and beauty.
So welcoming and Ae and Nack took such great care of us. Joy's cooking is the best we had in Thailand. We enjoyed our jungle trek and visit to the hot springs. Would have liked to stay longer but we got the only vacancy Ae had during our time in Thailand. We stayed in the farmhouse which was just so comfortable with cool verandas to relax in.
Our final night we Ae and Nack organised a lantern lighting. We had to make a wish, and mine was to be able to come back to the Farm in the future. If you are thinking of a unique stay in Northern Thailand, this is one special place. Thanks to all at Thung Dong Farm.

Just spent 3 days 2 nights at this wonderful place. Much better than I expected. Stayed in the farmhouse which is more like a luxury villa, so full of mod cons and interesting bric a brac but still retaining its charm. Birdsong in the morning, hoards of butterflies at noon and frog song at night. Ae was a wonderful host, Nack took care of us and Joy and her little daughter fed us lovely Thai food with little surprises for afternoon tea. The animals were such fun, especially the dogs. Our last night we were taken into the courtyard and given very large lanterns to light and let off up to the stars. A lovely ending to a lovely 2 days. If you want to unwind Thung Dong Farm is the place.

The amazing 5D4N farm stay at Thung Dong farm came to an end few days ago. I traveled solo and brought a book and several DVDs with me just in case there was not much to do in the evening. In the end, there is so much to do and sightsee on the farm and the villages nearby. Mingo with the locals and get better understanding of their lifestyle here. I read only 10 pages of my good book during my entire stay. Regardless, I feel that it is precious experience and wise to drop the reading for a while. I can always read on a boring subway ride through Hong Kong!
The Happy House (Farm House) is quaint, exceptionally beautiful, tastefully decorated, remarkably clean and centrally located in the farm.
I started missing the people there (genuine and friendly), the fresh air, the quietness and stunning views.
Many thanks to Joy the chef (she never repeated her menu during my stay (can u imagine there are 3 meals, afternoon tea and tons of fruits per day! All are super yummy and authentic).
Goodbye Ae, Nack (Man Friday...and every other day of the week!) Joy, Jutchang (Joys daughter who made me a fashionable bracelet); Sam, Lucy, Bongo and Merry (dogs), Oscar (cat), Maggie & family (pigs) and dozens of animals which I don’t remember all their names!
I will recommend this farm to everyone I know (solo, couples or families with kids) an outstanding job done in taking care of me! Gracefully touched by the effort and every single detail they put into the farm and make me feel like home.

Where to start! Everything about Thung Dong Farm is amazing, from the scenery and idyllic setting, to the friendly and attentive staff, and not forgetting the home cooked food! We spent 5 days and 4 nights at the farm, during which time we visited hot springs, went white water rafting and even tried our hand at becoming an ‘elephant mahout’ for the day, but most of all we enjoyed our time spent relaxing around the farm. The peace and tranquility was a welcome break after the crowds and intensity of Bangkok.
Ae and Nack were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they were most accommodating. We were shown around the farm and had the opportunity to feed the geese, guinea fowl and fish, we also got to ride one the buffaloes. One evening Nack got a BBQ on the go and made the tastiest chicken skewers we have ever tried. However our favourite evening was the night we spent lighting lanterns and watching them silently float upwards into the pitch black night sky.
During our time at Thung Dong Farm we stayed in the Farm House which is an absolutely stunning wooden traditional Thai style building. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated and the two verandas meant we had a choice of where we could lounge around reading and drinking afternoon tea.
The food was in a league of its own, every meal was exceptionally tasty and there was always plenty of it! The food was prepared by Joy, a lady from the local village, who cooked us set meals meaning we tried so much traditional Thai food that we may not otherwise have enjoyed.
The combination of a perfect setting, charming hosts and delicious food made it a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable holiday. All in all our stay at Thung Dong Farm was by far the favourite part of our three weeks in Thailand and we look forward to returning.

‘Our farmstay was awesome! The kids particularly loved the dogs (my son wanted to take Sam home!), but also loved the pink buffaloes, ducks and Jack the talking Mynah bird. ‘I came to Thung Dong Farm Stay with my husband and my parents; our 3 nights stay on the farm was one of the best holidays ever, it was very different from the city holidays that we normally have. The farm itself is very beautiful and quiet; make sure you spend some time on the farm, there are so many places to relax, we fed the animals, rode the pink buffaloes, took a short trek to the coffee farm and waterfall close-by. The food was amazing! It's different from the usual pad thai you find in the tourist area; we tried banana flower, bamboo soup, breakfast rice soup to name a few, we also had a BBQ and released hot air lanterns! Ae showed us around the area, it's great to be off the tourist track; we went to the Royal Project, bamboo hot spring, visit local children's home, the old 'old city' of Wiang Kum Kam. Everyone on the farm are so friendly, Ae and his staff really took good care of us. I cannot recommend Thung Dong Farm Stay enough!’

"I stayed at Thung Dong Farm for a 4 nights with my 8 & 3 year old boys recently. It was the most memorable time … living in paradise! Apart from the super cozy farm house and great service provided by the folks on the farm, my children were really excited to be able to feed so many animals everyday! The boys were so happy during our stay it warmed my heart! Thung Dong Farm is perfect to get close to nature. No school can provide such a learning experience. They enjoyed so much the feeding the animals at breakfast and it gave them a sense of ownership! We miss the animals a lot since our return. The jungle noises at night were enchanting and a perfect ‘musical’ backdrop to our evenings.
Most important of all, Ae is a very kind farm owner. He took us to many other places as well and shared his insights on how we can setup a proper organic farm too. “We were completely blown away by our stay at Thung Dong Farm.
The lush greenery and openness of the farm, coupled with its many interesting and quirky animal residents sure make for a lovely urban respite. The dogs (big boy Bongo, stick-loving Mary, dainty Lucy, sturdy Sam, and impish Hero), cat (super rat-catcher Oscar), pink buffaloes (Naak, Nouy and newly rescued Noah), horses (Anna and Mika), cows, pigs, chickens, geese, ducks, Guinea Fowl and birds (fantail pigeons, talkative Jack etc) were such great company that there was never a dull moment during our stay.
