Not one of Santa’s stray Reindeer but a visitor from the mountains!
A deer seems to have made a bond with our buffaloes! She stayed behind whilst the rest of the herd headed back to the hills and hopefully has made the farm her home. She sleeps with the buffaloes at night and grazes with then during the day and is slowly getting more tame. It would be wonderful if she stayed but she might just get a little homesick for her kin and rejoin them if she hears them call….so we are enjoying her company so much while we can!

Our two new rescued pups, Tom and Max, aren’t just for Christmas!
We hope that they will have blissful lives with us on the farm always! Our Jack passed away last week. He will be sorely missed. The friend who gave him to us so many years ago says that he was over decade old then so let's say he was 16. A fair age for a Mynah Bird which can actually live until they are 20 years old or more. It must have been all the smooth talk and pampering he had over the years that gave him such a colourful life and an impressive vocabulary. We do not condone the caging of wild birds but Jack would have never have survived without his daily meal of ‘Thunder Wings’ and ripe papaya! He left his cage a couple of times but came back when called; the wide open sky was a bit too much for him then. What are we going to do without you boy and your infamous language and your cheeky laugh? Now the skies are all yours Jack and you can fly free!..you will not be forgotten in a hurry. |
