Ethel’s young family have grown into fine little Thai Mountain Pigs! We have found good homes for most of them and those who do not want to leave TDF will stay safe and secure with us on the farm! Now Ethel can enjoy some quality relaxing time in her sty full of hay for the winter! P.s. Thanks to Yuhui for the snap! It's that time of year that we try to discover where our free-range Guineas have laid their eggs, rescuing them from the rain and placing the eggs under willing chickens for 28 days until they hatch. After 'drying' and two days with their foster-mom they are placed in special brooders at constant warmth with vitamin laced food and drink. They will progress through a series of brooders depending on their strength and height until they can be released in about six weeks time to a secure indoor enclosure. After a further two months they will be able to join all the other birds and range freely on the farm. This little ‘Keet’ is a rarer Lavender bird at just two days old. Lavender Guineas need extra care and attention but this fellow is as strong as the rest! Naak and Nouy are our two pink buffaloes who we rescued from a very grisly future. The first few pictures are from when we got them and as you can see they have grown in size and are much healthier now. They are unbelievably affectionate and friendly and they like nothing more than an evening wash and scrub down in the lake! They roam at will around the farm and go their pen by themselves at night and are usually up and about or in the lake by sunrise.
Because of their docile nature and Naak & Nouy are very popular with our farmstay guests and visitors. If you've never seen a pink buffalo then come visit us at the farm, we are just an hour away from Chiang Mai city. There is much to see and do in and around the farm so you may want to consider a short relaxing stay with us. |
